Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support patients through fertility operation procedures.
  • Conduct admission and pre-operative assessment of patients.
  • Initiate and maintain IV therapy.
  • Monitor patients post-operative and during anesthesia.

Job description
The Role

Reporting to the Director, Surgery Centre, the casual Registered Nurse has the primary responsibility of supporting patient through fertility operation procedures, including ovum (egg) retrieval, embryo transfer and sperm aspiration.

Please note, this is a casual role with no guaranteed weekly hours. 2 weeks of full time work is required upon hire to receive sufficient training. Ongoing, one shift per month is required to remain active.

The position is in a collaborative team environment fostering both patient and employee experience. The successful candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team, delivering patient-focused care to a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, meticulous, and is able to adapt to new challenges. They will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and have an interest in fertility.

Job Duties (including, but not limited to)

  • Admission and Pre-operative Assessment
  • IV initiation and maintenance
  • Post-operative/anesthesia care and monitoring of patient
  • Discharge and Post-Operative Teaching
  • Review of results with MD, and providing patients with medication instructions o Scheduling of appointments

Skills & Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Professional Liability Insurances
  • Current CPR/BLS
  • Current ACLS
  • At least 2 years in a nursing environment
  • IV therapy administration course or relevant experience
  • Experience in any of the following fields would be an asset: Fertility, Operating Room and/or Post Anesthesia
  • Prioritization of patients with a strong client service orientation
  • Eager to learn and develop in the fertility field
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Proficiency oral and written skills and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) is required
  • Highly effective organizational skills and adaptability
  • Proven ability to work independently while following procedures

Role Requirements:

  • Shifts are within 7 AM – 3 PM, Sunday-Saturday
  • Shifts range from 3 hours to 7.5 hours
