Our inquiry-based curriculum fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence, while emphasizing physical literacy and holistic child development. Carefully designed indoor and outdoor play spaces ensure children remain engaged and active throughout the year, including during Alberta’s harshest weather.

We maintain strong collaborative partnerships with families to support each child’s growth and prepare them for sustained success.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will be dependable, adaptable, fluent in English, and exhibit outstanding communication and multitasking abilities. Prior experience is advantageous, and candidates must possess or be willing to obtain Alberta Child Care certification levels 1, 2, or 3, along with current criminal record check (with vulnerable sector search) and first aid certification.

This is an on-call position where Directors will reach out to employees to cover shifts when regular Educators are absent. We are seeking individuals who have full-day availability at least three days per week. On average, employees can expect to work 1-4 shifts per week, depending on their preferences and the needs of the center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating and implementing engaging programming tailored to the interests and needs of the children.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety within the environment.
  • Leading and supporting children in integrated learning and recreational activities.
  • Actively supervising and engaging with children while ensuring their well-being.
  • Cultivating positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Adhering to Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulations and Magic Mountain's policies and procedures to ensure quality care.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation and open communication with families as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Prior childcare experience is preferred.
  • Completion of (or willingness to obtain) Alberta Child Care certification levels 1, 2, or 3 is required.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including basic computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of Alberta child care legislation and licensing regulations would be an asset.
Why Join Active Start?
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
  • Competitive wages (posted wages will have government top up added).
