Overview

Purpose of the role

The Casthouse Operator team is responsible for the individual tasks required to produce aluminum products in accordance with quality specifications, safety policies and standardized work procedures. Each Casthouse Operator is assigned a specific set of tasks depending on product line needs.

What you will do

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure equipment and vehicles are thoroughly inspected at the beginning of each shift.
  • Ensure molds and tools are free of any moisture and built‑up material.
  • Preparing troughs for pouring process.
  • Ensure the robot arms on each line is operating properly, debugging minor issues and escalating major malfunctions to the maintenance team.
  • Inspect finished products for defects and ensure any defective products are removed from the batch.
  • Use sow skim tool to skim sow molds.
  • Stack ingots as needed.
  • Strap bundles and move them to finished goods locations.
  • Operate a counterbalance forklift as needed.
  • Obtain samples and process quality testing per quality standards requirements.
  • Train new casthouse operators as needed.
  • Ensure work areas are neat, clean and free of tripping hazards.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to take initiative.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work a 2-week rotational shift (mornings, nights, afternoons).
  • Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
  • Able to maintain awareness of personal surroundings to safely avoid moving mobile equipment driving paths and molten aluminum processing paths.
