Responsibilities
  • Interview clients individually, in families, or in groups to assess their situations and problems.
  • Supervise other social workers, paid para‑professional staff, student trainees, and volunteers.
  • Perform administrative tasks.
  • Provide counseling and therapy to help clients resolve social and personal problems.
  • Plan programs of assistance for clients.
  • Refer clients to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment, and other services.
  • Provide public education and consultation regarding counseling services, issues and methods.
  • Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals working with a client group.
  • Advocate on the client’s behalf in courts or at hearings.
  • Lobby for solutions to problems affecting client groups.
  • Conduct social research.
  • Apply for social program funding.
  • Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops or symposia.
  • Provide consultation services to government and other organizations.
  • Develop prevention and intervention programs to meet community needs.
  • Resolve conflict situations.

  • 5-10 people
Qualifications
  • Education: College/CEGEP or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Experience in social work, case management, or related fields is an asset.
  • Target audience: Adults.
  • Specialization: Community development, personal adjustment, socio‑economic needs or conditions.
  • Security: Criminal record check required.
  • Transportation: Valid driver’s licence, own vehicle, driver’s abstract.
  • Work conditions: Fast‑paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, attention to detail, large workload and caseload, combination of sitting, standing, walking.
