Job summary

Hamilton Health Sciences in Ontario is seeking a Case Management Coordinator to adjudicate disability benefits for employees absent due to illness or injury. You will support return-to-work and accommodation efforts, and assist Case Managers to enable timely, safe, and productive reintegration into the workplace.

The role supports the Ability and Attendance team within Health, Safety and Wellness, with a hybrid schedule Monday to Friday and flexibility for shifts as needed.

Qualifications

  • Certified Disability Management Professional or Certified Return to Work Coordinator designation (or working towards)
  • Diploma or degree in related field (eg. Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, Labour Relations, etc)
  • 1-3 years or more of experience in disability management
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act
  • Experience in a large, diverse, highly unionized environment with multiple Collective Agreements
  • Excellent analytical and report preparation skills
  • Knowledge of best practice in disability management and return to work
  • Creative problem solver with ability to interact in a high-performing work culture
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build trust at all levels
  • Empathy and strong listening skills with professionalism
  • Passion for healthcare and driving organization performance
  • Ability to develop partnerships and achieve results through others
  • Strong results orientation in a complex system
  • Experience with program development and independent work
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Internet, e-mail and HRIS applications

Unit Summary

The Ability and Attendance team within Health, Safety and Wellness at Hamilton Health Sciences is accountable for the disability management, accommodation, return to work and attendance management processes through an effective incident capture, triage and response process and for providing the supports necessary to enable reasonable and regular attendance at work by all staff.

Position Summary

The Case Management Coordinator is responsible for the adjudication of disability benefits for employees who are absent due to non-occupational illness or injury. They will support employees who are absent from work related to illness or injury, ensuring that they stay connected with the workplace and have sufficient information about the process, roles and responsibilities, supports and available resources, and will enable return to work through reasonable accommodation as needed. The Case Management Coordinator provides assists the Case Managers and leaders to facilitate early return to work and modified work programs as appropriate.

Schedule Work Hours

Monday to Friday; days (some flexibility may be required to support various shifts)

This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work arrangement, in accordance with HHS’ Remote Work Policy.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to manage own work effectively and independently
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Internet, e-mail and HRIS applications is required.
