Responsibilities and Duties:
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and sketches to determine project requirements, and prepare layouts in accordance with building codes using precision measuring tools.
- Estimate materials, tools, and project costs accurately.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials using hand and power tools, nails, screws, adhesives, and other fastening methods.
- Build and maintain foundations, floors, walls, roof systems, and install windows, doors, stairs, moldings, cabinetry, and hardware.
- Apply finishing techniques such as sanding, staining, varnishing, and painting.
- Inspect existing structures for damage or wear, check completed work with tools such as levels or framing squares, and recommend necessary repairs.
- Maintain, repair, and renovate wooden structures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
- Provide guidance and training to apprentices, supervise work teams, and collaborate with other tradespeople to ensure quality and safety standards.
- Organize and maintain tools, machinery, and materials, following safety protocols and keeping detailed records of work completed, materials used, and project progress.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must be able to communicate in English
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- 1 year to less than 5 years of related work experience
