Compensation: $28 – $30/ hour (full-time / permanent)

Carpenters (GRT) – Handyman at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state, GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians! Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.

The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways:

  • Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
  • Framing
  • Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing
  • Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included)
  • Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
  • Insulation and vapour barrier installation
  • Being awesome, in general!
  • Doors
  • Trim, moldings, and baseboards
  • Cabinetry
What you bring

The GRT bring a host of abilities to their work with a ‘get it done!’ attitude.

Additional abilities required include:

  • 10 years of experience working in construction environments
  • Tools and the skills to use them
  • Strong people and communication skills
  • Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
  • A safety mindset
  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to pass a criminal record check
  • Ability to communicate in English
Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:
  • Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
  • IICRC certification (restoration focus)
  • WHMIS
  • First Aid

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.
