Job summary

A leading general contractor in Vancouver is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join their construction team. The role involves designing, constructing, and repairing structures, along with ensuring safety standards are maintained. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in residential construction and hold a Red Seal Ticket. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a carpenter in residential construction (includes rough and finished carpentry).
  • Must be open to performing physical activities (lifting equipment up to 50lbs).
  • Demonstrated ability to safely use manual tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, construct, remodel, retrofit and repair interior and exterior structures made of wood, drywall, plaster, concrete or brick.
  • Work with instructions and/or blueprints from Site Superintendent.
  • Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills and sanders to repair and erect structures.
  • Ensure all safety standards are followed when working on construction job sites.

This position is a vital part of the construction team which designs, constructs, repairs and maintains structures using various types of materials and is responsible for the full range of rough and finished skilled carpentry work.

Responsibilities
  • Design, construct, remodel, retrofit and repair interior and exterior structures made of wood, drywall, plaster, concrete or brick
  • Work with instructions and/or blueprints from Site Superintendent
  • Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills and sanders to repair and erect structures
  • Join materials with nails, screws, staples or adhesives
  • Work on top of stilts, ladders, and top beams of buildings
  • Check work progress to ensure that it meets quality standards, codes and specifications
  • Use levels, rules, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure
  • Work with prefabricated buildings
  • Build stairs and other structures
  • Create structures for pouring concrete
  • Erect scaffolding
  • Install partitions, doors and windows
  • Ensure all safety standards are followed when working on construction job sites
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic construction knowledge on Structures, Building Envelopes, Finishes
  • Understanding of the ITC Brand and Value Proposition
  • Ability to communicate, liaise and work in conjunction with Owners, Trades and Consultants
  • Good communication skills
