Job summary

Sosan Construction ltd. in Abbotsford, BC, is seeking a carpenter to work on-site at various locations across the Fraser Valley. You will read blueprints, measure and assemble materials, and supervise work on site.

A minimum of 1 year to less than 2 years of experience is expected. No degree is required, and English is required for communication on projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs.
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites.
• Survey building locations and levels.
• Instruct apprentices.
• Supervise other workers.
• Estimate costs and materials.
