Job Summary

The Career Services Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful placement of CIMT College graduates into relevant employment and practicum/internship positions. The primary KPIs for this role include achieving high employment rates within the field of study within six months of course completion and placing students into practicum/internship positions within one or two days of their course completion date or theory end date.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Career Counseling, Human Resources, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in career services, recruitment, or a related area.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain employer relationships.
  • Familiarity with job search strategies and career counseling techniques.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and career services management software.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Student Career Counseling and Support
    • Provide one-on-one career counseling to students, assisting with resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
    • Conduct career workshops and seminars on topics such as job search techniques, resume building, and interview skills.
  2. Employer Engagement and Partnership Development
    • Establish and maintain relationships with employers in various industries relevant to CIMT College programs.
    • Organize employer engagement activities such as job fairs, networking events, and on-campus recruitment sessions.
  3. Practicum/Internship Placement
    • Coordinate practicum and internship placements for students, ensuring placements are secured within one to two days of course completion.
    • Monitor and evaluate the progress of students in their placements, providing support and resolving any issues that arise.
  4. Job Placement and Employment Tracking
    • Assist graduates in securing employment in their field of study within six months of course completion.
    • Track and report on employment outcomes, maintaining accurate records of student employment statuses and career progression.
  5. Program Development and Continuous Improvement
    • Collaborate with academic departments to align career services with program objectives and industry needs.
    • Develop and implement new career services programs and initiatives to enhance student employability.
  6. Alumni Relations
    • Maintain relationships with alumni to support their ongoing career development.
    • Organize alumni networking events and leverage alumni connections for student placement opportunities.
  7. Data Management and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of all career services activities, including student interactions, placements, and employment outcomes.
    • Prepare regular reports on career services metrics and KPIs for review by the Career Services Manager and senior management.
Work Conditions
  • This is a full-time position based at 7200 Goreway Drive, Mississauga, Ontario.
  • Some travel may be required to attend employer meetings, job fairs, and other events.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to support student events and activities.

  • Comply with all regulatory standards as set out by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, and the OCC Act, 2005.
