Overview

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Supervisor, Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT), functions as a member of the Cardiac Catheterizations Electrophysiology and Device Implant teams. In collaboration with a Cardiologist, who specialty involves three aspects of cardiac care: Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology Lab and Device implantation the CVT supports, manages and reports technical monitoring prior, during and post care. The CVT provides technical assistance/support to the programs prior, during and post care.

Qualifications

Education, Training And Experience

  • Diploma in Cardiovascular Technology; and
  • Two years recent related experience; and
  • Current registration or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Cardiopulmonary Technologist

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions
  • Ability to retain a variety of complex details associated with the required duties and to make frequent decisions based upon such information
  • Ability to work for lengthy periods wearing heavy lead shielding due to radiation exposure
  • Ability to physically move awkward, heavy monitoring equipment
