Job summary

Covenant Health invites applications for a Cardiology Technologist I at Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton. This 0.80 FTE, regular part-time role supports the CICU with 12-lead ECGs, Holter monitoring and reporting, and adherence to HSAA terms.

Position requires ASRCT and CSCT registration, BLS Level C, and strong troubleshooting skills. Union: COV HSAA PROF TECH. Shifts include days and weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized Cardiology Technologist program.
• Registration with ASRCT and CSCT.
• Basic Life Support Level C (CPR) required.
• Experience with 12-lead ECGs and Holter monitors preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform 12-lead ECG recordings throughout Misericordia Hospital.
• Apply, initiate, download and scan Holter recordings.
• Accurately interpret recordings and report abnormalities to physician.
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot department equipment.

Job description

The CICU at the Misericordia Hospital is a fast-paced, dynamic unit with a welcoming interdisciplinary team who support the critically ill cardiac patient population. Our staff utilize their critical thinking skills to provide exemplary care for our clients. We provide nursing care, education, and support to our CICU patients, and run part of a hospital-wide Code Team.The Cardiology Technologist I performs 12 lead ECG recordings throughout the Misericordia Hospital. The Technologist will also apply, initiate, download and scan Holter monitoring recordings. They have the knowledge and ability to accurately interpret the various recordings and promptly report abnormalities requiring immediate attention to the attending physician. Cardiology technologists operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment utilized within the department.

Description: The Cardiology Technologist I performs ECG tests and carries out recording and reporting of test results. This position operates, maintains and troubleshoots service equipment. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of recognized educational institution for Cardiology Technologist
• ASRCT Registration
• CSCT Registration
• Basic Life Support Level C (CPR Basic Recruiter)

Additional Required Qualifications

• Recent related experience within an acute care facility with a strong background in 12-lead and 15-lead ECG’s and Holter Monitors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Connect Care, GE Case, CardioDay, MUSE, and Phillips ECG machines.
• Successful passing of CSCT exam.
• Minimum one-year recent experience as a Cardiology Technologist within an acute care facility preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking and ability to troubleshoot.
