Job summary

A regional health authority in Port Alberni is seeking a Cardiology Technologist to perform non-invasive cardiology procedures and maintain related equipment. The ideal candidate must be certified with the CSCT and possess strong communication skills. This role requires effective participation in a team and the ability to prioritize work. A diploma in Cardiology Technology and one year of recent experience are necessary.

Qualifications

  • One (1) year recent, related experience.
  • Eligible for membership with the Cardiology Technologist Association of British Columbia (CTABC).

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of non-invasive cardiology procedures.
  • Routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform database functions including editing of electrocardiograms and related clerical duties.

Overview

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager or designate, and as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, the Cardiology Technologist performs a variety of non-invasive cardiology procedures and routine maintenance of equipment. Using a personal computer and related software, performs database functions, including editing of electrocardiograms, storage and retrieval of cardiac records, and related clerical duties.

Qualifications
  • Certified by the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologist (CSCT); and
  • Graduate of a recognized diploma training program in Cardiology Technology; and
  • One (1) year recent, related experience; and
  • Eligible for membership with the Cardiology Technologist Association of British Columbia (CTABC); and
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLSC), Level C.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
