Job summary

Fraser Health Authority in New Westminster, BC, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse with critical care to join the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit at Royal Columbian Hospital. You will provide advanced nursing care to patients requiring cardiac support and life‑threatening condition management.

The role supports ongoing professional practice within a high‑volume trauma centre, with involvement in quality improvement and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current practising registration as a Registered Nurse with BCCNM.
• Completion of Critical Care Level 2 course with one year Cardiac Surgery experience or two years of critical care in an acute care facility with one year Cardiac Surgery experience.
• Current Basic Rescuer Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients.
• Collect information using observation, communication and physical assessment to provide appropriate care.
• Produce timely, accurate reports of observations including patient and family teaching and evaluation of care.
• Communicate with health care team and participate in multidisciplinary conferences to plan care.
• Act as advocate to protect patient rights and access to information.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and research by identifying patient care issues.
