The Opportunity

We are currently seeking Capacity Analytics Specialist to join our Integrated Business Planning team in Toronto. This is a 16-month fixed term position.

To improve processes and asset performance through analysis, competitiveness, integrated solutions, and knowledge sharing in the Base Metals global value chain.

Lead reconciliation process between sales and operations in order to provide an accurate forecast of packing plan, inventory levels, sales plan and cashflow.

Use advanced analytics, Big Data, AI, and other techniques to achieve new levels of performance and productivity for the value chain across Base Metals

Additionally, in this position you will…

  • Identifying and enabling new technical references of performance and capacity for processes by continuously challenging the Status Quo, aiming for large operational leaps and capacity increase.
  • Reconcile of demand versus Vale Base Metals inventory globally through all corporate and third-party warehouses
  • Initiate and act as a gatekeeper for the Sales Management System (product and packaging), manage the product and package requirements against business commitments, sales commitment and present a view on packaging requirements for the uncommitted production.
  • Provide input into the development of marketing strategies and objectives including customer service, inventory levels, backlog/lead time, and decision points for managing changes.
  • Internal expert in S&OP and supply chain
  • Governance and standardization of Vale's technical processes to define capacity, bottlenecks and value drivers, and monitor/report compliance with applicable indicators.
  • Definition, standardization, reporting and monitoring of the best internal and external benchmarking of performance and capacity.
  • Apply advanced statistical tools for analyzing and predicting conditions, trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Challenge capabilities along the value chain when conducting business analysis.
  • Create an effective performance information system, with standardized and reliable indicators and dashboards.
  • Observe and internalize the Global Capacity Model to establish productivity goals and prioritize improvements initiatives.
  • Provide the Integrated Business Planning team with the official capacity assumptions in obtaining the overall optimal plan.
  • Provide specialized technical analytical consulting and expertise to support requests from operations and projects.
  • Improve operational performance through the development of optimization models and advanced statistical analytics, condition prediction tools, integrated simulators, and the Asset Management Panel of the Integrated Planning Process
  • Define set-points for operations based on advanced analysis techniques and develops measurement standards for asset performance management.
