Job summary

Hartwig Medical Foundation is seeking a Bioinformatician to help develop and enhance a cancer-focused data platform used for molecular diagnostics and translational research. You will work with scientists, clinicians, and engineers to write scalable code and integrate genomic and clinical data.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Genomics, or related discipline. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
• Strong programming experience in Python, R, or similar languages. Java or Kotlin experience is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of genomics and molecular biology, preferably in cancer.
• Familiarity with data processing and analysis techniques, including large datasets, relational databases, and data modeling.
• Solid understanding of software development principles, including version control, agile methodologies, and best practices for maintainable code. Containerization and cloud platforms are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain the platform; write clean, scalable code to implement analyses.
• Operate and support the molecular diagnostics and cancer platform; assist clients in interpreting results and addressing questions.
• Integrate molecular and clinical data; develop pipelines to extract insights from diverse datasets.
• Support translational research initiatives and translate research into platform features.
• Stay current with tool suites and cancer research developments; propose new technologies to enhance capabilities.
