Immune Dysregulation Canada Research Chair

We acknowledge the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta. The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).

Position Overview

The Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases, and the Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases, at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary invites applications for a Canada Research Chair Tier 1, tenured position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in Immune Dysregulation. This position guarantees 75% protected time for research. The selected candidate will be nominated for a Tier I Canada Research Chair (CRC), tenable for seven years and renewable once.

Responsibilities
  • Direct a collaborative research program in systems immunology, focusing on the mechanistic underpinnings of clinical disease(s) and/or experimental model systems in which the immune system becomes dysregulated.
  • Develop and lead a research team, including graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and develop innovative educational approaches.
  • Participate in administrative and service activities that impact the Cumming School of Medicine community.
  • Build connections with investigators across the Cumming School of Medicine and the University of Calgary in trans‑disciplinary research initiatives.
Qualifications
  • PhD and/or MD (not practicing clinical medicine) or equivalent, and postdoctoral research fellowship experience.
  • Evidence of a continuous, externally funded research program and an outstanding academic publication record.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead research teams and an outstanding teaching and graduate supervision record.
  • Met the criteria for a Canada Research Chair at the Tier I level.
