Job summary

Walmart Canada in Midland, Ontario is seeking an Asset Protection Associate to help create a safe store environment and protect people and merchandise. You will patrol the store, verify security features, and support investigations into shrink and theft in collaboration with Store Leadership.

The role involves assisting with emergency procedures, external apprehensions when needed, and clear communication of findings to leaders. Flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends, are required.

Responsibilities

• Store Security and Loss Prevention: patrol the store to maintain a safe, secure environment and verify doors, showcases and security features.
• Investigations and Case Support: assist investigations of shrink and escalate findings per company guidelines.
• Emergency Response and Store Support: participate in evacuation and emergency procedures and support store operations.
• Enforcement and External Apprehensions: perform external apprehensions in line with company policies and law.
• Communication and Reporting: gather information from multiple sources and report findings clearly to leadership.
• Additional Duties: perform other duties to support evolving asset protection priorities.

Position Summary

The Asset Protection Associate plays a key role in creating and maintaining a safe, secure, and professional store environment for customers, associates, visitors, and vendors. By following Asset Protection standards and demonstrating positive, professional behaviour, this role helps prevent financial and physical loss, reduce shrink, and support store profitability. Through awareness, observation, and teamwork, the Asset Protection Associate helps protect people, merchandise, and the overall shopping experience.

What you'll do

Store Security and Loss Prevention

• Conducts daily patrols of the store to help ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Verifies that doors, showcases, and security features are functioning properly and takes action as required.

Investigations and Case Support

• Investigates incidents of financial and physical shrink and communicates findings to Store Leadership.
• For internal investigations, escalates information to the Market Loss Prevention Manager in accordance with Company guidelines.
• Conducts or supports investigations related to internal theft, external theft, organized retail crime, and cases assigned through Walmart Canada Global Ethics.

Emergency Response and Store Support

• Supports store evacuation and emergency procedures during incidents such as fire or other emergencies.
• Participates in store task team responsibilities as required to support overall operations.

Enforcement and External Apprehensions

• Carries out external apprehensions when required, in compliance with Company policies and legal standards.

Communication and Reporting

• Gathers and communicates information from multiple sources, clearly explaining issues and findings to leadership and other stakeholders while presenting relevant perspectives.

Additional Duties

• Completes additional responsibilities as required to support evolving business needs and Asset Protection priorities.

Flexibility (Availability/Work Schedule)

• Be open to working a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
• Your adaptability helps ensure the store runs smoothly and customers receive consistent, high-quality service.

Physical Demands

• Performs physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting inventory, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 20 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Performs repetitive tasks such as stocking, zoning, and organizing products with attention to detail and consistency to uphold store standards.
