Job summary

University of Calgary is seeking a Full-time Heavy Equipment Technician in the Grounds unit to maintain campus mobile and stationary equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure equipment reliability and safety for students and staff.

Under supervision, you will contribute to capital budget prep, maintenance scheduling, inventory control and log keeping, supporting campus operations and safety throughout all seasons.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Heavy Equipment Technician - Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic (Off Road) Journeyman Certification Program.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on mobile and stationary equipment including loaders, graders, backhoes, medium duty trucks, mowers and attachments.
• Perform repairs to mobile and stationary equipment and inspect for defects or required repairs.
• Supervise others involved in maintenance tasks and inform Supervisors of major repairs or replacements.
• Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to OH&S regulations.
• Assist in capital budget submission and in maintaining maintenance logs and records.
