Job summary

PTW Energy Services, Inc. in Alberta seeks a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician to join our field teams on various construction projects.

You will install, test, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and control systems, read P&IDs, and coordinate with operations, maintenance and external contractors, with a strong emphasis on safety. We require a Journeyman certificate (Red Seal preferred) and valid safety credentials.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Instrumentation Technician certificate; Red Seal preferred.
• Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation, electrical principles.
• Valid H2S Alive, Fall Protection, Standard First Aid (Level A or C with CPR/AED), and CSTS 2020.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, DCS, and HMI systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Experience in gas plants, power plants, or industrial manufacturing environments.
• Proficient with test and calibration equipment (multimeters, loop calibrators, oscilloscopes).
• Skilled using hand tools and electrical tools for installation and maintenance.
• Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Flexible availability for shift work, overtime, and weekends, with a strong focus on safety and self-direction

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and calibrate industrial instrumentation, electrical, and control systems, including continuous emissions monitoring (CEMS)
• Perform installation and calibration, of process control instrumentation such as transmitters, analyzers, control valves, controllers, PLCs, and protective relays
• Support and maintain power generation and industrial equipment, including gas turbines, generators, and plant auxiliary systems
• Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, control system drawings, manuals, and technical documentation
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering teams, and external contractors during installations, start-ups, and shutdowns
• Communicate equipment condition, safety concerns, and job status clearly to operations and supervision
• Perform all work in compliance with Health & Safety standards, OHS regulations, and company policies
• Other duties as required
