Job summary

Metro in Timmins, ON is hiring a Cake Decorator for a part-time, permanent position in a unionized environment.

The role decorates cakes and bakery items to customer specifications, prepares icings and decorations, and ensures quality and presentation. It requires flexibility to cover days, evenings and weekends, with duties across stocking, merchandising and customer assistance.

Responsibilities

• Decorate cakes and other bakery products according to customer requests and company standards.
• Prepare icings, fillings, and decorative elements following recipes and guidelines.
• Write personalized messages on cakes neatly and accurately.
• Ensure all decorated products meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards.
• Assist with packaging and labeling finished products.
• Maintain clean and organized workstations, tools, and decorating equipment.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Monitor inventory levels of decorating supplies and notify management when items need replenishment.
• Assist customers with cake orders, including providing recommendations and taking custom requests.
• Support stocking and merchandising of bakery displays as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient department operations.
• Assist with special promotions, seasonal displays, and additional tasks as assigned by management.

This position is part of a unionized bargaining unit. The hourly wage for this position starts at $16.60 - $16.70 and is established in accordance with the collective agreement. Depending on a candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, and prior experience, a higher hourly wage may be offered. Any hourly wage offered for this role, whether starting or higher, will fall within the wage scale established for this position in accordance with the collective agreement.

This is a posting for an existing permanent part-time position.
