Job summary

Charles River Laboratories in Laval, QC, is seeking a Cage-Wash Clerk for our Toxicology team. You will ensure the well‑being of laboratory animals by keeping their living spaces clean and supporting the integrity of pre‑clinical studies. Location: 445 Boul.

Armand-Frappier, Laval. Schedule includes days and evenings with overtime and weekends. Salary is $18.75/hr with premiums for evenings, weekends, overtime and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (DES) or equivalent, plus 3 years relevant work experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Physically able to lift up to 20kg, walk, stand, squat, etc.
• Able to follow strict and precise instructions/procedures.
• Good observations and communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform daily checks on cage washer machines.
• Monitor the use of soap and various needs of the cage washers.
• Clean all type of animal housing and accessories.
• Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on cages and accessories.
• Perform manutention tasks in the vivarium as required.

Job Overview

As a Cage-Wash Clerk for our Toxicology team located in Laval, you will be responsible for the well-being of our laboratory animals by keeping their living space clean. Your contribution will ensure the health of our animals, as well as the integrity of our pre-clinical studies.

In This Role, Primary Responsibilities Include

• Operate and perform daily checks on cage washer machines;
• Monitor the use of soap and various needs of the cage washers;
• Clean all type of animal housing and accessories;
• Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on cages and accessories;
• Perform manutention tasks in the vivarium as required.

If you possess the following qualifications, we will train you in the rest:

• High school diploma (DES), or completion of Secondary III with at least three (3) years of relevant work experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Physically able to work (lift up to 20kg, walk, stand, squat, etc.);
• Able to follow strict and precise instructions/procedures;
• Good observations and communications skills.

Please note that upon being hired, you will have to undergo an annual tuberculosis test at the expense of the company.

Role Specific Information

• Location: 445 Boul. Armand-Frappier, Laval, QC, H7V 4B3;
• Transportation: Free parking. Near the Montmorency Subway. Electric vehicle charging station;
• Salary: $18.75/hr;
• Premiums: Evening ($2.50), Weekend ($2.75), Overtime (Time and a half), Holidays (Double time);
• Annual bonus based on performance plan;
• Schedule: Flexible schedule, you must be available days and evenings. Depending on the needs, you may have to do overtime and weekends;
• Permanent position as of the hiring, full-time 37.5hrs per week.
