McGowan Russell Group is looking for a CAD Technician/ Civil Engineering or Landscape Technologist to assist our Landscape Design Team. We are seeking candidates with drafting experience who are interested in working on a wide variety of projects in the fields of landscape architecture, planning and urban design. The successful candidate will work with our team of landscape architects and designers on AutoCAD drafting from conceptual design to construction drawings as well as assist with specification production, contract administration and other day to day tasks as required.

About Us:

McGowan Russell Group (MRG) is a landscape architectural firm based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We are currently an office of 7 dedicated landscape architects, designers and administration that work within project specific teams led by our Principal and Senior Landscape Architects. We work on a diverse range of projects including multi-family and commercial site design and zoning analysis, streetscapes, subdivisions, park planning and urban design. A few of our recent notable projects in Winnipeg include: Southwest Rapid Transit Stations, True North Square, SHED District Streetscaping, Richardson Plaza, 360 Main Street, Molson Memory Care, The Arc Student Residence, Park City Commons and The Aurora at North Point Development. Outside of Winnipeg, MRG has been involved in the Wunnumin Lake Campground Expansion, Winnipeg Beach Campground Development, Falcon Lake Townsite and Boardwalk, Westhawk Townsite Redevelopment and the Spruce Woods Masterplan and Campground Redevelopment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drafting working drawings required for plan approval and construction to MRG standards using AutoCAD (including layout, planting, grading and details)
  • Production of project specifications for construction
  • Assist with project graphics including open house boards, information pamphlets or flyers
  • Zoning analysis, quantity take-offs, preparation of cost estimates and tender documents
  • Assisting with day to day construction administration tasks (participation in project meetings, preparation of meeting minutes, coordination with contractors)
Candidate Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Drafting/ Auto Cad program certificate, Landscape Architectural Technologist Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3+ years of experience in AutoCAD drafting and design
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office ProgramsExperience in 3D based modelling such as AutoCAD 3D, Sketchup, Rhino or Revit would be considered an asset
  • Previous work experience in a landscape design related field would be considered an asset
  • Work as a creative, motivated and self-driven team member
  • Possess strong communication skills, effective time management and ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects in an evolving and fast-paced environment.
