Opportunity

WSP has a new opportunity for a CAD Technician to join our Drafting and Design Team on a full-time basis. As an Intermediate Drafter/Technician at WSP, you'll be working with multi-disciplinary teams to provide technical and engineering design support on a wide variety of unique projects locally and around the world. You will be part of a global technical community of drafting, design, and BIM practitioners who collaborate, innovate, build enduring relationships, excel, and grow professionally in a robust culture of ownership. This role can be based anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area with the opportunity to work remotely using our VDI cloud environment. What you can expect to do here
  • You'll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, and consultants, understanding the requirements and incorporating those requirements into your work.
  • You'll provide technical 2‑D drafting and 3‑D modeling and design analysis support on a wide variety of projects collaborating with colleagues in offices around the world.
  • Prepare existing condition models based on a variety of sources including topographic surveys, aerial drone surveys, and satellite imagery.
  • Prepare technical figures for reports and engineering drawings for conceptual, tender, and construction packages.
  • Manage your own workload commitments by following an established workflow and data management process.
  • Be responsible for quality assurance and control with adherence to global company standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Engage in continuous knowledge sharing, training, and mentoring to develop your skills and career.
  • Actively participate in a global technical community of like‑minded practitioners.
What you'll bring to WSP
  • Technician or Technology Diploma or Degree or equivalent preferably in the disciplines of Environmental, Geotechnical, Mining and/or Civil Engineering.
  • Must have experience with AutoDesk Civil 3D and working in consulting companies.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of demonstrated experience in CAD Drafting and Design using AutoDesk Civil 3D.
  • Experience with drafting and design support principles, practices, processes, methods and techniques.
  • Detail‑oriented with a strong commitment to following a prescribed set of global company standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Willingness to learn and the desire to excel and thrive in an engaging, collaborative environment.
  • Well organized and able to prioritize multiple deliverables while demonstrating a flexible approach to competing deadlines.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to identify alternative solutions to challenges.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Provide technical support, mentoring and guidance to Junior CAD Technicians.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
