Job summary

Trulite Glass and Aluminum Solutions in Vaughan, Ontario, is seeking a CAD Designer – Intermediate (Technical Lead) to translate architectural drawings and orders into shop drawings and production files for architectural glass.

You will lead complex projects, set drafting standards, and collaborate with estimating, project management, and the plant floor. Applicants should have 3+ years CAD drafting experience and strong AutoCAD skills; Inventor/SolidWorks/Revit are assets.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent experience in drafting/design technology.
• 3+ years CAD drafting experience, preferably in glass/glazing.
• Strong AutoCAD skills; Inventor/SolidWorks/Revit are assets.
• Ability to read architectural/structural drawings and specs.
• Strong math, detail orientation, and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Prepare shop drawings, elevations, sections and details for glass products.
• Review drawings and specs; flag discrepancies and raise RFIs.
• Calculate sizes, clearances, holes, notches and edgework.
• Create CNC, cutting and laser-etch files for production.
• Revise drawings per comments and maintain submittal logs.
• Produce cut lists, BOMs and order data.
• Take field measurements and resolve fit issues on site.
• Follow CAD standards and safety requirements.

Location: Woodbridge· Type: Full-time, permanent, on site · Reports to: Operations Manager · Compensation: $55,000 – $65,000 per year, based on experience

About the role

Trulite is growing its technical team and hiring a CAD Designer at the intermediate (Technical Lead) level. You'll turn architectural drawings and customer orders into accurate shop drawings and production files for our architectural glass products, working with estimating, project management, and the plant floor. Experienced candidates will lead complex projects, set drafting standards.

What you'll do

• Prepare shop drawings, elevations, sections and details for tempered, laminated, insulated (IG), bird-friendly and specialty glass.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, and orders; flag discrepancies and raise RFIs.
• Calculate glass sizes, clearances, holes, notches and edgework to industry standards and plant tolerances.
• Create and check CNC, cutting and laser-etch files for production.
• Revise drawings based on architect, contractor, and engineer comments, and keep submittal logs current.
• Produce cut lists, bills of materials and order data for production and purchasing.
• Take field measurements and visit the plant or site to resolve fit issues when needed.
• Follow company CAD standards and all health and safety requirements.

What you bring

• Diploma in architectural, mechanical, or industrial drafting/design technology, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of CAD drafting experience, ideally in glass, glazing, fabrication.
• Strong AutoCAD skills: Inventor, SolidWorks or Revit experience is an asset.
• Able to read architectural and structural drawings and specifications.
• Strong math skills and close attention to detail and tolerances.
• Clear communicator who works well with office and plant teams.

Working conditions

• Office-based, with regular time on the plant floor and occasional site visits.
• Required PPE on the plant floor (safety footwear, cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses).
