Job summary

ICM Fabrication, a furniture and millwork shop in Canada, seeks a skilled cabinetmaker to join a busy millwork team. You will operate woodworking machinery, read plans, and contribute to the production of built-in cabinets and furniture.

The role requires 2–3 years of cabinetmaking experience, attention to detail, and the ability to instruct apprentices. This is a hands-on position in a non-smoking millwork environment with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Must have a cabinetmaking background and the ability to read specs/drawings.
• 2–3 years of related experience preferred.
• Cabinetmaker trade certifications or equivalent are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate woodworking machines (power saws, jointers, mortisers, shapers) to cut and shape parts.
• Prepare specifications for custom-made cabinets to maximize storage.
• Shape surfaces and edges using hand tools (planes, chisels, wood files).
• Instruct apprentices and supervise helpers as needed.
• Study plans, specifications, or drawings to guide fabrication.
• Trim joints and fit subassemblies to form complete units; reinforce joints.
• Sand surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish; prepare laminated plastics and apply finishes.
