Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Buyer based in Surrey, BC. This role offers a great opportunity to those with experience in purchasing, logistics, or supply chain. Job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is searching for a Buyer on behalf of a major player in the building materials and construction sector based in Surrey, BC. This is a great opportunity for someone with early experience in purchasing, logistics, or supply chain, and looking to transfer their previous co‑op role into a full time role with strong growth potential.

The successful candidate will support multiple sites across Vancouver, act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, and gain exposure to a wide variety of product lines and commodities.

Responsibilities
  • Review and assess purchase requisitions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Create purchase orders for materials, services, utilities, and capital expenditures.
  • Obtain quotes and bids from suppliers in line with procurement policies.
  • Support sourcing activities and local negotiations to secure competitive pricing and total cost of ownership.
  • Manage parked PO invoices and ensure appropriate payment terms are applied.
  • Coordinate vendor setup, changes, and updates with the procurement team.
  • Act as a first point of contact for site teams and internal stakeholders regarding purchasing needs.
  • Ensure proper use of tax codes and PCS codes on purchase orders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve purchase-to-pay (P2P) processes.
  • Provide data and information requested by the Procurement Manager.
  • Adhere to and promote health, safety, and environmental policies, including proper PPE use.
Requirements
  • 1+ year of experience in purchasing, logistics, or supply chain.
  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in Purchasing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with SAP or a similar purchasing / ERP system is an asset.
  • Experience in construction, mining, heavy industrial, or building materials is a strong plus.
  • Willingness to travel locally (5–10%) to visit sites.
