Our cutting‑edge technologies and solutions are trusted by military and commercial customers worldwide. We are currently seeking a Buyer to join our purchasing team based in Ottawa!

What will you be doing?
  • Coordinating and executing the purchasing process, including sourcing, negotiating prices, and procuring materials and services (managing PO suggestions (Mechanical/electrical) ordering through ERP) and internal PO requests.
  • Collaborating with production leads to understand their purchasing needs and requirements and material.
  • Updating Current Costs in the system.
  • Constantly seeking out cost reduction opportunities. Following up on procurement‑related issues.
  • Communicating POs to the vendors, obtaining confirmations of dates and quantities, notifying requestors of deviations to requests, and documenting all correspondence.
  • Working closely with vendors/receiving to ensure paperwork is sent to receiving and POs are received/closed.
  • Provide coverage for planning activities, when warranted.
  • Assist in ERP data maintenance.
  • Be responsible for responding to Finance issues regarding the POs, pricing issues, discrepancies, etc.
  • Maintaining and managing POs and keeping them up-to-date.
  • Liaising between suppliers, internal departments, and project customers throughout the entire purchasing process: reviewing specifications, ASL, expediting deliveries, resolving discrepancies, and evaluating and escalating potential risks that could affect project deliverables.
  • Ensuring timely processing of POs.
  • Identifying and selecting vendors from MMIST ASL to purchase requisitioned commodities, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality, safety, and delivery date.
  • Tracking orders and ensuring on‑time delivery, resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Purchasing materials, services, and equipment as directed and in accordance with policy and procedures.
What do we need from you?
  • Experience in a similar role in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of aerospace or defense industry standards and regulations would be an asset.
