Job summary

The Department of Public Works, Real Estate and Infrastructure Management Division in Nova Scotia is seeking a Business Services Clerk to support procurement and operational functions. Qualifications

  • Excellent coordination and organization skills along with experience in maintaining records in both manual and computerized environments.
  • Equivalencies include related bachelor’s degree with 1 year experience or related diploma with 3 years experience.

Maintaining and building our Provincial infrastructure is no small job.

The Real Estate and Infrastructure Management Division at the Department of Public Works supports Nova Scotia’s 2,400 buildings and infrastructure assets across a wide range of clients. We maintain and support various government buildings and other built assets, including museums, core buildings and office buildings supporting the work of government, correctional centres, and justice centres.

About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Business Services, the Business Services Clerk plays a vital role in supporting the operational and procurement functions of the Real Estate and Infrastructure Management Division within the Department of Public Works.

Primary Accountabilities

You provide critical procurement support to the Real Estate and Infrastructure Management Branch, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all purchasing activities. You collaborate with internal stakeholders to validate procurement requests, secure senior management approvals, and prepare front-end tender documents in Ariba and SAP S4 purchase orders. You also manage standing offer purchases in accordance with government directives, verify offer details, and support agreement administration.

You will also be responsible for processing accounts payable transactions, including AP and MIRO invoices, ensuring appropriate approvals, accurate coding, and compliance with financial controls and departmental procedures. You are also responsible for verifying work order information and entering time confirmations within SAP S4 to support labour cost recovery, project billing, and accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications and Experience

You have five (5) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

You have experience in government procurement policies, S4, Ariba, Microsoft Office Suite and reporting.

Proficiency in data entryand extensive knowledge in spreadsheet software and creation, word processing, and email applications is essential.

You must demonstrate excellent coordination and organization skills along with experience in maintaining records in both manual and computerized environments.

The following qualifications are considered assets:

  • Completed course work in bookkeeping and accounting;
  • Familiarity with STAR/STOR;
  • Experience with preparation of buildingconstruction quantity documents;and
  • Experience with S4(or equivalent).

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Equivalency

An equivalent combination of relevant training and experience will be considered. Related equivalencies include, but are not limited to:

  • A completed related bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience
  • A completed related diploma and three (3) years of experience

Working Conditions
  • Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.

Pay Grade: CL 22

Salary Range: $2,123.03- $2,348.18Bi-Weekly
