Job summary

Hydro One is seeking a Business Process Analyst to advance project delivery, governance, and continuous improvement across the organization. You will analyze processes, contribute to governance frameworks, and partner with internal teams to improve efficiency and performance.

Based in Toronto, you will develop Project Execution Plans, monitor process metrics, and drive standardization aligned with corporate strategy.

Qualifications

  • Experience in reporting, analysis, and process improvement in a project-based environment.
  • Knowledge of business economics for analysis and performance assessment.
  • Experience measuring and reporting process metrics, and setting performance targets.
  • Ability to identify process improvements using structured continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience developing governance frameworks for consistent project delivery.
  • Familiarity with Project Management processes including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional meetings and coordinate stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to present analyses and recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and tight timelines.
  • Experience with KPI development and data-driven decision making.
  • Familiarity with transmission/distribution or similar infra environment.
  • Experience with MS Visio and data visualization tools; SharePoint/MS Office proficiency.
  • Education via four years of university training in engineering or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Advise division on project process integration, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain project delivery processes, standards, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and stakeholders to support efficient project execution.
  • Develop governance frameworks governing planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Identify resource needs and support selection of qualified resources.
  • Prepare and support Project Execution Plans (PEPs) aligned with governance.
  • Participate in reviews, audits, and improvement plans.
  • Ensure alignment with divisional strategy and targets.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization using data-driven analysis.
  • Monitor and report on project processes and improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with BPM, governance, and engineering practices.
  • Support training initiatives in process analysis and tools.

General Accountabilities:

  • Provide recommendations to the division on project process integration, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Participate in the development and maintenance of project delivery processes, associated methods, standards, and documentation. Work with internal departments, customer groups, and stakeholders to support consistent and efficient project execution and process integration.
  • Participate in the development and coordination of methods, processes, and governance frameworks which govern how projects are planned, executed, and monitored. Promote the value of these practices as contributors to key effectiveness areas such as efficiency, standardization, quality, and performance improvement within the business unit strategic framework.
  • Initiate and participate in formal project and process assessments, identifying needs, determining resource requirements, and supporting the selection of qualified resources or consultants. Prepare and support Project Execution Plans (PEPs) ensuring alignment with divisional requirements and governance expectations. Coordinate work efforts, contribute to project delivery, and recommend acceptance or refinement of proposed solutions.
  • Participate in critical reviews, audits, and governance assessments of project and business processes. Support the development and promotion of continuous improvement plans, ensuring engagement from the line organization. Initiate reviews, evaluate proposals, and analyze opportunities to improve project delivery efficiency, integration, and performance. Prepare reports and presentations identifying priority improvement areas and measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure departmental continuous improvement and project governance initiatives are aligned with divisional strategy. Confirm that improvement efforts support consistent project delivery, performance targets, and strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate the identification of priority opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements. Support the development and implementation of improvement plans using data-driven analysis, standardization, and best practices aligned with industrial engineering principles.
  • Participate in the monitoring, measurement, and evaluation of project processes and improvement initiatives to assess effectiveness, performance, and sustainability of outcomes.
  • Keep abreast of developments in business process analysis, project governance, continuous improvement methodologies, and industrial engineering practices. Maintain communication with internal teams, external organizations, and industry groups.
  • Participate in the development and coordination of initiatives to address training and capability development needs in project process analysis, governance, and continuous improvement tools and methods.
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions, teams, and committees within the organization and with external stakeholders on matters related to project delivery, governance, and process optimization.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Selection Criteria:

  • Requires relevant and demonstrable experience in reporting, analysis, and process improvement initiatives, preferably within a project-based delivery environment.
  • Requires thorough working knowledge of business economics to carry out analysis, evaluate alternatives, and assess performance results.
  • Requires experience with measurement, design, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of process metrics to provide advice and guidance on business and project process performance, including setting performance measures and targets.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and apply structured continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., process optimization, root cause analysis, standardization) to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Requires experience in developing and implementing strategies, policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to support consistent and effective project delivery and process integration.
  • Requires knowledge of and experience with Project Management processes and Project Delivery practices, including planning, execution, and monitoring activities.
  • Requires the ability to effectively facilitate cross-functional meetings and workshops and coordinate across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and present detailed analysis, reports, training materials, and recommendations.
  • Requires strong analytical, problem-solving, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires experience with working effectively in team settings and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Requires experience working under pressure and managing competing priorities and tight timelines.
  • Requires experience with the design, assessment, and continuous improvement of business and project processes, including participation in reviews, audits, and performance evaluations.
  • Requires experience with performance measurement, KPI development, and reporting to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Requires familiarity with the transmission/distribution business or similar infrastructure environment, including understanding of organizational functions, policies, and planning practices.
  • Requires strong working knowledge and experience with SharePoint and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience with MS Visio (or equivalent process mapping tools) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) is considered an asset.
  • This knowledge is considered to be acquired through the completion of 4 years of University training and equivalent work experience (i.e., Industrial Engineering, related Engineering fields, Business Administration, Commerce, or related field).
