Job summary

McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Calgary seeks a highly-motivated lawyer to join our Business Law Group with a focus on Energy. The successful candidate will work with a diverse, skilled team delivering sophisticated corporate and commercial advice to energy sector clients.

Candidates should have 3–6 years post-call experience in corporate and commercial law, with oil & gas, electricity, or renewables experience, and strong drafting and client-service skills.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of post-call corporate and commercial law experience, with preference for energy sector exposure (oil & gas, power, renewables).
• Experience in private M&A, joint ventures and complex commercial work is a plus.
• Excellent academic and professional credentials; strong drafting and analysis are required.
• A demonstrated commitment to teamwork and client service excellence.

The successful candidate will join a diverse and skilled team which provides a full range of legal advice to clients in the energy (oil & gas, power and energy transition) and infrastructure industries.

• 3 – 6 years of post-call corporate and commercial law experience, with a preference for candidates with oil and gas, electricity and/or renewables expertise, and CCUS and other energy transition experience and/or interest, including experience in private M&A, joint ventures and complex commercial work;
• Excellent academic and professional credentials;
• Strong analytical, communication and drafting skills; and
