Role Summary
The Business Intelligence Analyst (Intermediate) will collaborate with technical and business teams to build a new Power BI workforce insights dashboard that consolidates Human Capital Management (HCM) metrics. The successful candidate will work end-to-end on data visualization, business analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and user training to ensure delivery of a high-quality, data-driven reporting solution.
Key Responsibilities
Dashboard Design & Development
- Design and build Power BI dashboards to consolidate workforce and contact centre data metrics.
- Develop complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and advanced visualizations.
- Ensure dashboards meet business objectives, are user-friendly, and comply with data governance standards.
- Conduct testing, validation, and performance tuning of BI solutions.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze large, complex datasets from multiple sources to identify trends, insights, and key performance indicators.
- Translate business and technical requirements into analytical models and visual reports.
- Maintain data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all reports.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand reporting needs.
- Present data insights and findings in clear, understandable language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Prepare presentations, demonstrations, and status updates for project sponsors and leadership.
Documentation & Training
- Develop comprehensive documentation, including data dictionaries, business logic, and report specifications.
- Create training materials and deliver user training sessions to ensure effective adoption of BI tools.
- Support continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the BI team.
Governance & Quality Assurance
- Adhere to data governance, privacy, and security standards.
- Ensure all deliverables comply with Government of Alberta policies and reporting guidelines.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement improvements as needed.
Mandatory Requirements
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in data analysis, BI development, and visualization.
- Proven experience developing complex Power BI reports with calculated measures, KPIs, and dynamic dashboards.
- Strong skills in DAX, Power Query (M language), SQL, and data modeling.
- Hands‑on experience with large datasets and analytical reporting in enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into BI deliverables.
- Experience with Contact Centre as a Service (CCaaS) systems or similar large‑scale service delivery environments.
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
- Experience with dimensional and relational data modeling.
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Reporting Services (SSRS), PowerView, or Analysis Services (SSAS).
- Experience working within data warehouse or BI environments.
- Understanding of ETL processes, data pipelines, and automation frameworks.
Additional Details
- Must provide own computer compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (Windows preferred).
- Work must be performed from within Alberta for data security compliance.
- Role is primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings in Edmonton (3–4 times per fiscal year).
- The selected candidate will undergo a criminal background check.
- Mandatory onboarding training includes FOIP (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act) and Security Awareness.
