Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Operations, the General Manager is responsible for maximizing hotel profitability for the Residence Inn By Marriott Vancouver by focusing on revenue generation, market share growth, operating efficiencies, associate engagement, and guest satisfaction in a focus‑service hotel environment. The role is accountable for coaching and mentoring all leadership team members to foster a strong service and performance‑driven culture. The General Manager will align operational and organizational strategies and, as a senior leader, bring a proven track record of positive change in a winning environment. He or she will excel in change management, facilitation, and people management skills to deliver operational excellence. The General Manager is a strategic thinker responsible for the development and timely execution of the hotel business plan, directing and coordinating hotel operations in accordance with policies and procedures, and providing leadership to achieve all key performance indicators with a focus on guest services.

Utilizing strong interpersonal skills, the General Manager champions associate engagement, is familiar with the brand, and supports future talent development. He or she is results‑driven and ultimately accountable for hotel performance, recognizing current and developing trends, and acts as a positive ambassador for SilverBirch within the local hotel environment. The General Manager represents the company with integrity, promotes the company within the local market, and ensures full compliance with all SilverBirch, brand, regulatory, and statutory requirements (including health, labour, environmental, and fire code regulations).

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overall property performance, including revenue generation, market share growth, operating efficiency, associate engagement, and guest satisfaction.
  • Direct hotel teams to achieve all financial and operational key performance indicators and contribution targets.
  • Provide leadership to the hotel revenue generation process, ensuring proactive sales plans are in place to meet overall growth targets.
  • Adjust the hotel’s business plans in response to changing market conditions.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial and operating metrics focused on achieving key performance indicators—GOP, Flow Through, RevPAR Index, Guest Satisfaction, Associate Engagement, and Brand Inspections.
  • Develop and execute a multi‑year Capital Expenditure Program.
  • Champion the company’s vision, mission, and core values, creating an inclusive environment where all associates’ full potential is recognized.
  • Build and cultivate a positive labour relations climate, maintaining key relationships with union representatives and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective property organizational structures, processes, and procedures maintain top brand performance.
  • Maintain highly productive relationships and partnerships for the benefit of the company.
  • Ensure full compliance with all SilverBirch and brand policies and procedures.
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory and statutory regulations and requirements.
