Business Development Manager – Oil & Gas

Edmonton or Calgary, AB (Hybrid)

Jay Pinniger of Lock Search Group is working with global client looking to invest in adding a Business Development Manager to cover their Alberta Territory. This position has the ability to work out of the Greater Edmonton or Calgary Area from a home office setting when not dealing directly with clients. Our client is seeking an experienced Strategic Account Manager to drive growth in industrial products and solutions, to lead sales growth and strengthen strategic relationships across Alberta. This role focuses on promoting our client’s portfolio including Automation, Drives & Motion, Communication, and Identification solutions within key accounts. The ideal candidate is a strategic and results-oriented professional experienced in engaging stakeholders at all organizational levels, including the C-suite. Success in this role requires close collaboration with engineering, sales, and marketing teams to deliver solutions aligned with customer objectives and execute an effective account.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans that align with overall business objectives and growth targets.
  • Customize customer engagement strategies using market intelligence, CRM insights, and account data.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive and C-level contacts.
  • Manage the full sales cycle—from prospecting and pipeline development to negotiation and closing.
  • Drive market share and revenue growth through consultative, solution-based selling approaches.
  • Identify customer needs beyond technical requirements, considering financial, operational, and strategic factors.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, sales, and marketing teams to align on customer objectives and opportunity execution.
  • Create persuasive value propositions, proposals, and pricing strategies that deliver measurable business impact.Leverage financial solutions and innovative business models to maximize deal value and long‑term partnership success.
  • Maintain accurate CRM documentation, provide reliable forecasts, and share performance insights to support continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales, business development, or consulting within the industrial sector
  • Bachelor’s degree Required Preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Electro‑Mechanical Engineering or Business Administration
  • Strong knowledge Oil & Gas Market
  • Technical and commercial expertise in industrial automation, including motor controls, drives, motion controls, MCCs, and capture/security devices
  • Demonstrated success in sales, customer service, and effective communication
  • Proficiency with, or ability to quickly learn, technical and financial estimation tools
  • Skilled in building and maintaining long‑term business relationships
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective presentation and negotiation abilities
  • Highly organized with excellent time management and self‑motivation
  • Driven by results with a strong focus on achieving targets
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
