Key Objective

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will drive business growth by developing and managing relationships with brokers, agents, and distribution partners in the assigned region, with a focus on the Lower Middle Market Segment. The BDM will serve as an ambassador for Chubb, overseeing agency relationship management, new client acquisition, and client retention, while consistently achieving key performance metrics such as Gross Written Premium growth, new business generation, profitability, new agency appointments, and increased market visibility.

Major Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated and documented success in calling on insurance brokers within a defined territory or region.
  • Develops tactical sales plans to achieve annual objectives, including market share growth, new agency appointments, and increased revenue.
  • Generates opportunities to acquire new business through proactive business development activities with assigned brokers.
  • Builds relationships with key stakeholders locally and regionally to support business development initiatives.
  • Proven ability to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual production goals.
  • Collaborates closely with underwriters, leadership, and local field operations.
  • Ensures Chubb’s products and services are competitively positioned in the market.
  • Manages a pipeline of key customers to meet and exceed growth targets.
  • Acts as the primary contact and relationship manager for assigned producers.
  • Effectively manages daily, weekly, and monthly goals and tracking responsibilities.
  • Works with underwriting to evaluate, price, and propose rates and strategies for Lower Middle Market accounts.
  • Manages assigned workload to meet internal productivity and timely service standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent insurance-related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of underwriting and / or broker / agent sales experience; business development experience in commercial lines is preferred.
  • Completion of CIP, FCIP, and / or CRM is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials from various sources.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Chubb’s Commercial Insurance product offerings.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to make independent decisions using Chubb best practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of managing high-visibility situations.

A valid driver’s license is required.
