Job summary

BMO Financial Group in Ottawa, Ontario is seeking a Business Development Manager to support BrokerEdge clients and help brokers make real financial progress. This role covers Western Ontario and focuses on broker channel relationship building.

You will develop strategic partnerships with brokers, builders, and investment advisor offices, execute market plans, train partners, and negotiate terms while ensuring risk controls and a superior customer experience.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage programs / products and B2B networks.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains strategic relationships with brokers, brokerages, builders and non-BMO Investment Advisor Offices for designated home financing sales programs.
  • Develops and executes a market business plan to achieve objectives.
  • Represents the sales programs / products in sales calls and at events.
  • Generates appointments and develops new relationships to grow business results.
  • Prioritizes the market’s client and prospect pipeline.
  • Supports the regional sales programs / products delivery to maximize client opportunities and increase referral volume and deal flow.
  • Trains and coaches internal and external partners on program / product guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Negotiates pricing, underwriting and efficient presentation of applications with brokers, builders and program partners.
  • Identifies and escalates any broker / partner risks.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal / external stakeholders to deliver customer experience.

Boldly Grow the Good in Business and Life - Become BMO's next Business Development Manager supporting BrokerEdge clients in making real financial progress. Situated in Ottawa Ontario this position is excellent for an experienced broker channel relationship builder.

To cover Western Ontario

Develops and maintains strategic relationships with centres of influence and third parties (e.g. Brokers, Brokerages, Builders and non-BMO Investment Advisor Offices) for designated home financing sales programs and products to. Applies market and industry expertise to deliver a winning customer experience that will grow market share. Identifies share of wallet opportunities and refers business opportunities to key partners.

  • Develops and executes a market business plan to achieve objectives.
  • Represents the sales programs / products in sales calls and at events.

  • Prioritizes the market’s client and prospect pipeline.

  • Trains and coaches internal and external partners on program / product operational guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Provides advice and guidance to assigned business / group on implementation of solutions.
  • Collects documentation for the onboarding and approval of new partnerships.
  • Negotiates pricing, underwriting and efficient presentation of applications with brokers, builders and program partners.
  • Identifies and escalates any broker / partner behaviour that poses fraud, AML, reputation or other risks.
  • Provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Executes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal / external stakeholders to deliver the desired customer experience.
  • Breaks down strategic problems, and analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Monitors and tracks referrals performance, and addresses any issues.
  • Ensures alignment between stakeholders.
  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Take measured risks while protecting the bank by applying our Risk Management Framework in the execution of your role, in line with our Risk Culture and within our approved Risk Appetite, making sound and risk informed decisions that align to business strategy, protect assets, and adhere to applicable policy documents (Frameworks, Policies, Standards, Procedures and Supporting documents), laws and regulations.

Salary: $61,600.00 - $113,900.00

Pay Type: Salaried & Commission

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
