Toyota Financial Services (TFS) seeks a Business Data Steward to support Enterprise Data Management within the Data Governance function. You will research data needs, become an expert in multiple data domains, and drive governance via Agile practices at the Markham HQ.

The role offers a hybrid work environment with scale for growth and opportunities to contribute to data governance, literacy, and compliance initiatives across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
• 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in data governance, data quality, metadata management, and/or MDM tools.
• Strong understanding of industry standards and technology delivery best practices.
• Experience with process improvements and change management.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME and primary data contact for data domain, establishing data management standards for the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP).
• Post-EDP, implement the Data Governance Roadmap and build glossaries, CDEs and DQ rules.
• Promote data literacy and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
• Support governance processes, metadata, SOX/compliance, MDM, data security and related initiatives.
• Collaborate with data owners to protect data and ensure it is used appropriately.
• Promote common reference data and sound data usage practices for literacy campaigns.

TFS currently has an exciting permanent opportunity as a Business Data Steward for its Data Governance function. Reporting to the Manager, Data Governance and Business Analytics, this role will support the Enterprise Data Management (EDM) practices in the Business Analytics department. The individual will research and understand Data Management needs, become an expert in the multiple data domains, and facilitate Data Governance needs via Agile practices. This role will reside in our Markham Head Office.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• As the Subject Matter Expert and the key point of contact for those creating and consuming data within their domain, the data steward works with various data governance stakeholders to ensure the establishment of data management standards for the company’s Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) project, including the following:
• Post EDP project, continue working with stakeholders to implement and carry out actions outlined in the Data Governance Roadmap for the company to successfully implement Data Governance structure and processes, including building data glossaries, defining CDEs and DQ rules.
• Spread data awareness across the organization and ensure data literacy and data-driven decisions are promoted to maximize the use and value of data for the business.
• Support efforts to drive continuous improvement and implementation of data governance processes, policies, metadata, SOX and other compliance needs, MDM, data security, and compliance initiatives.
• Work closely with the data owner to make sure data is protected and used for authorized purposes only.
• Actively promote the use of accepted data definitions, common reference data, and sound data usage practices for data literacy campaigns.
• Collaborate with business users and the technical team to make data availability easy and simple for users.
• Implement and adopt data quality strategy, profile data assets, and define proactive and reactive DQ rules for specific domains.
• Identify and oversee the data quality issues, maintain issue repository, and work with the technical team to manage resolution.
• Perform audits to make sure data governance process and policies are followed diligently and identify data-related process improvement opportunities.
• Performs audits to make sure data adheres to compliance and regulations.
• Support efforts to build metadata repositories, business glossary, data lineage, and training materials.
• Review enterprise data assets to define attributes, identify CDE and classify and establish KPIs for their domains.

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management).
• 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in data governance, data quality, metadata management, and/or master data management tools.
• Strong understanding of industry standards and technology delivery best practices.
• Excellent background in process improvements, operational management, and change management.
• In-depth understanding of the Master Data Management technology landscape, processes, and design principles.
• Solid understanding of key meta-data management, data quality, and data stewardship tools and platforms.
• Proven track record in driving large data governance programs at an enterprise level.
• Able to plan and organize effectively.
• Strong verbal and written language and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent research, analysis and problem-solving skills.Team oriented, flexible and proactive.

Added bonus if you have:

• Experience with Axon.
• Experience with SQL.
• Business Data Steward experience in a Captive environment, and/or in the auto finance industry preferably in Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Tax, Insurance, or Servicing domains.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $74,500 - 94,000. The offered salary will be based on the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills and qualifications.
