Job summary

PAL Aerospace seeks a detail-oriented Business Analyst to support the FAcT Program in Ottawa, providing data collection, KPI development, and dashboard reporting. You will work with the Program Director and Project Managers to deliver actionable insights and ensure data governance.

The role emphasizes data analytics, performance measurement, and collaboration across departments, leveraging Power BI, Excel, and SharePoint to monitor program success and drive improvements.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a business analyst or data analyst role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics is preferred.
  • IIBA certification (E or CCBA) or PMI – PBA; CAPM or PMP is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data visualization tools (Power BI).
  • Strong skills in Excel and data manipulation; experience with KPI reporting.
  • Experience in Aviation/Aerospace is considered an asset; MS SharePoint, PowerPoint, Visio, Jama understood.

Responsibilities

  • Create reports and communications for management; assist with project-related tasks.

Job description

PAL Aerospace is proud to partner with SkyAlyne , the prime contractor for the Future Aircrew Training ( FAcT ) Program —Canada’s next-generation training initiative for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) . This transformative program will redefine how Canada trains its pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers (ACSOs) , and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators (AES Ops) through a powerful blend of live flying, advanced simulation, and classroom instruction.

PAL Aerospace is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Analyst to support the FAcT Program and departmental performance initiatives, preferably based in our Ottawa, ON offices. The Business Analyst will report to the Program Director and support the Program Manager, Project Managers, and Operations Manager. This role is primarily responsible for designing and implementing data collection frameworks, gathering and validating data, and developing dashboards to monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, business intelligence tools, and performance measurement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Analytics

  • Develop andmaintaina comprehensive data collection framework aligned with program and departmental goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders toidentifyrelevant KPIs and define data requirements.
  • Collect, clean, andvalidatedata from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Design and populate interactive dashboards and reports using tools such asExcel andPower BI.
  • Monitor data trends andprovideactionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure data governance and compliance with internal and external data standards.
  • Support ad hoc analysis and reporting needs across the department.
  • Document processes and provide training to end-users on dashboard usage and data interpretation.

Project Management

  • Support monthly programmatic, scheduleand financial review presentations withdashboards.
  • Prepare orassistwith other project-related documents, presentationsor tasks as required by theProgram Director, Program Manager,Project Managersand Operations Manager.
  • Conduct GAP analysis on existing andnew solutions.
  • Create reports, PowerPoints, and other communication to management asrequired.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements Management

  • Document,decompose,manage,and track current business requirements.
  • Document,decompose,manage,and track Project and Program requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings,andinterviewswith divisional reps, leading the discussionto gather requirements.
  • Create test plans, test scripts, and work with stakeholders as needed tomonitortest execution while assessing, tracking, and managing defects.

Process Management

  • Create and implement process improvement strategy.
  • Develop process models for optimization.
  • Enhance and continually improve performance reporting.
  • Analyze results against trends and benchmarks to find efficiencies and opportunities.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define and document applicable processes, procedures, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a business analyst or data analyst role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analyticsis preferred.
  • IIBA certification (E or CCBA) or PMI – PBA
  • PMI – CAPM or PMP equivalent considered an asset.
  • Demonstratedproficiencyin data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Strong skills in Excel, and data manipulation.
  • Experience with performance measurement and KPI reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in an Aviation/Aerospace settingconsidered an asset.
  • Experience usingMSSharePoint,PowerPoint,Visio,andJama software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience in process development.

Security Responsibilities:

Incumbent must be able to obtain the required level of Government of Canada Personnel Security Clearance.
