Job description

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a highly skilled and dynamic Business Analyst / Product Owner to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions. In this dual role, you\'ll be instrumental in defining, prioritizing, and delivering IT software products and features that enhance our transit operations, particularly within the public sector and bus services. You\'ll work closely with stakeholders to understand their challenges, translate those into clear requirements, and guide development teams to deliver valuable solutions that directly impact public transit efficiency and rider experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Analysis:

    • Conduct in-depth analysis of business processes, workflows, and systems within the transit agency, public sector, and bus operations.

    • Gather, analyze, and document comprehensive business requirements, user stories, use cases, and functional specifications through various elicitation techniques (interviews, workshops, surveys, etc.).

    • Perform gap analysis and recommend solutions to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Create and maintain detailed documentation, including process flows, data models, and system diagrams.

  • Product Ownership:

    • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical development teams, representing the voice of the customer and business needs.

    • Define, prioritize, and manage the product backlog, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and business value.

    • Collaborate with development and QA teams throughout the Agile software development lifecycle, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

    • Translate high-level business requirements into actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria.

    • Facilitate decision-making and conflict resolution among stakeholders to ensure successful product delivery.

    • Oversee user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet business requirements and quality standards.

    • Monitor product performance post-launch and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of combined experience in Business Analysis and/or Product Ownership roles.

  • Demonstrated experience working within a Transit Agency is essential.

  • Proven experience on projects within the Public Sector, understanding the unique stakeholder landscape, procurement processes, and regulatory environments.

  • Strong understanding and experience with Bus Operations, including but not limited to, dispatch, scheduling, fleet management, maintenance systems, and real-time information systems.

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Transportation Planning, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence).

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex issues into manageable components.

  • Superior communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to facilitate productive meetings, drive consensus, and influence outcomes.

  • Experience with requirements management tools and techniques.

  • Proactive, self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
