Job summary

Gowling WLG, a leading international law firm, is seeking a Business Analyst for its Enterprise Project Management Office in Toronto. You will bridge business needs and data analytics to deliver process improvements and data-driven recommendations across Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP offices.

The role reports to the Senior Director of the EPMO and involves leading requirements gathering, creating detailed process diagrams, and guiding agile delivery within a high-performance team.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in professional services environments.
  • Certification in Business Analysis or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and PM tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements gathering efforts and conduct JAD sessions to capture business and technical requirements.
  • Document and maintain clear process diagrams and business use cases.
  • Lead user stories and agile prioritization for sprints.
  • Manage feature delivery with scrum boards and facilitate scrum meetings.
  • Elicit and document BPM workflows and ensure traceability of requirements.
  • Coordinate testing signoff and monitor milestones throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to manage dependencies and risks.

PROFILE

The Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) team is currently looking for a Business Analyst to join our team. As a Business Analyst, you will report to the Senior Director, Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) and will be empowered to work on business-driven transformation projects across all Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP offices. The Business Analyst will bridge the gap between functional areas and the business using data analytics to assess processes, determine requirements and deliver data driven recommendations and reports.

The EPMO is a high performance team that drives collaboration with project stakeholders to help achieve the Firm’s business objectives through quality project delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead requirements gathering efforts and conduct Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions, focus groups and personal interviews to capture business and technical requirements.
  • Capture, define, document, and maintain clear and accurate detailed process diagrams and documentation including business requirements, and use case documentation.
  • Ability to lead the application of agile methods of eliciting and documenting User stories and facilitate the process of business prioritization and User story selection for agile timeboxes and sprints.
  • Manage feature delivery with scrum boards and facilitate development scrum meetings.
  • Effectively elicit and document concise business driven requirements with Business Process Management (BPM) workflow specifications.
  • Manage established requirements and testing signoff procedures throughout the project lifecycle and report on and track project testing milestones/deliverables.
  • Manage project requirements development and execution from beginning to end, while monitoring the dependencies on the critical path with Project Managers.
  • Proactively manage issue logs including changes in requirements while identifying potential crises, and devise contingency plans with Project Managers.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5-7 years working as a project management Business Analyst on a variety of technologies preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Business Analysis certificate training.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional client service.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project or any PPM tool.

The starting range for this role is $68,000 to $88,000. Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. Gowling WLG employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance.
