Job description
OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst (Expert) with deep Capital Markets expertise to support the delivery of complex trading system and product implementation initiatives. The successful candidate will bring strong hands‑on experience across Equity Swaps platforms, trading lifecycle analysis, and front‑to‑back stakeholder engagement within highly regulated environments.

This role will work closely with Front Office, Middle Office, Compliance, Operations, and Technology teams to define requirements, support system implementations, and ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory expectations.

This role is ideal for a senior, hands‑on Business Analyst who thrives in fast‑paced trading environments, is comfortable working across complex data and systems, and has direct exposure to equity swap products and prime brokerage operations.

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 2 days in office, flexible)
Contract Length: February 9, 2026 – October 30, 2026, extension or conversion possible
Hours: 9 AM – 5 PM EST
Pay Rate: $74/hour on T4 or $84.5/h on IC

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Elicit, document, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements related to trading system and equity swaps implementations.
  • Perform detailed data mapping, requirements analysis, and translation of business needs into functional specifications.
  • Support implementation initiatives across all major project phases including Analysis, Development, Testing, and Release.
  • Develop and maintain BRDs, FRDs, user stories, and test cases to support Agile delivery.
  • Build and support client and regulatory reporting, ensuring trades and processes align with applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with Front Office trading teams, Middle Office, Compliance, Operations, and Technology partners to ensure solutions meet business and operational needs.
  • Provide analytical support for product implementation and system integrations, including downstream technical analysis.
  • Execute and analyze SQL queries to validate data, trades, and reporting outputs.
  • Support testing cycles including UAT, defect triage, and release readiness.
  • Communicate complex business and technical concepts clearly through written documentation and presentations.
  • Identify risks, gaps, and dependencies across trading systems and business processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of experience working within Capital Markets, with a strong focus on trading systems and derivatives.
  • Hands‑on implementation experience with Equity Swaps platforms such as Murex, NuvoPrime, SwapOne, Imagine, or similar.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of the Swaps Trading Lifecycle.
  • Proven experience working with Equity Swaps, Portfolio Swaps, Total Return Swaps (TRS).
  • Hands‑on exposure to Cash and Synthetic Prime Brokerage, including Front Office trade booking.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting requirements using BRDs, FRDs, and test cases.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments, with hands‑on exposure to PO/PM‑style responsibilities.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement experience across Front Office, Middle Office, Compliance, and Operations.
  • Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint.
  • Solid technical aptitude with SQL and exposure to JSON for data analysis and integrations.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail capabilities.

  • Prior programming or development experience.
  • Experience with Python in data analysis or automation contexts.
  • Broader exposure to trading system integrations or regulatory initiatives.
