About the Role
The Business Analyst provides financial and operational analysis that helps RSR understand performance, manage risk, and make informed business decisions. The role is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, KPI reporting, cash flow planning, inventory and production analysis, and identifying the key drivers behind business performance.
Working across RSR’s business units, the Business Analyst turns complex financial and operational data into clear insights and recommendations for Finance, Operations, and executive leadership. This role requires a strong understanding of the business, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.

Job Responsibilities
- Support the annual budgeting and financial planning process across RSR business units.
- Prepare and maintain financial models, forecasts, and financial planning tools.
- Analyze financial results, budgets, forecasts, and variances to identify trends, risks, and key business drivers.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial forecasts using financial and operational data.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, KPIs, and management dashboards and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Analyze cash flow, inventory, production, and operating performance to assess financial impact and business performance.
- Evaluate financial and portfolio risks and prepare financial analysis, reports, and recommendations for management.
- Support capital planning and prepare financial models and documentation for capital management decisions.
- Analyze financial impacts of commercial leases, including negotiations, renewals, and extensions.
- Develop and maintain financial and treasury policies related to budgeting, forecasting, and portfolio management.
- Consolidate, validate, and analyze financial data from multiple business units and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
- Use advanced Excel and BI tools to analyze large data sets and improve financial reporting and forecasting.
- Work with Finance, Operations, and department leaders to provide financial insights and support business planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, forecasting, and decision-support tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
- 2+ years of financial planning and analysis experience within metal recycling, manufacturing, industrial, operational, or a similar industry is an asset.
- Experience analyzing large data sets and applying statistical analysis to solve business problems.
- Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including Pivot Tables, PowerPivot, and Power Query.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), Power BI, and Tableau is an asset.
- Strong planning, organizational, and process-oriented skills.
- Ability to occasionally travel to other facilities within the region.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written.
