About the Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Bus Driver and Early Childhood Educator. The ideal candidate will have prior experience driving a school or childcare bus and must hold a valid Class 1 or 2 driver’s license with an "S" endorsement. In addition, possessing a Level 1, 2, or 3 Alberta Child Care Certification is considered a strong asset. This dual role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children and is passionate about ensuring their safety and well-being both in transit and in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving groups of children to and from school throughout the day.
• Supervising during pick-ups and drop-offs.
• Actively engaging with and supervising school age children during field trips and at the centre.
• Provide leave coverage and assistance for educators while on break, or when additional help is required.
• Actively supervising and engaging with children of all ages at the centre, while ensuring their well-being.
• Cultivating positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
• Adhering to Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulations and Active Start's policies and procedures to ensure quality care.

Qualifications

• A Class 1 or 2 driver's license with an "S" endorsement to drive the bus Clean driver's abstract
• Prior childcare/daycare experience is required
• Level 1, 2 or 3 Child Care Certification (or willing to obtain)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Professional, adaptable, and fluent in English
• Knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations (preferred)
