The positions are located in federal correctional institutions or community based locations where CORCAN operates vocational training centers or is completing projects or installations. CORCAN Instructors employed in these areas are responsible to support the completion of projects for clients while directly supervising and supporting employment and employability skills acquisition of offenders assigned to training in these locations. All incumbents must be willing to work on a regular basis within a federal correctional environment (institution and community), including direct interaction and supervision of offenders. Incumbents also have regular contact with other areas of CSC and the government, as well as clients, stakeholder groups and members of the public. CORCAN, as part of the Correctional Service of Canada, is responsible for the Employment and Employability Program for offenders serving a federal sentence. CORCAN supports and operates a wide variety of interventions in federal institutions as well as for offenders under community supervision. CORCAN Building Services Workers and CORCAN Installations Instructors are part of the CORCAN construction or installation teams and provide a unique opportunity to conduct duties related to construction or installations in a correctional environment (institution and community based) as well as at client locations, providing on the job and vocational training for offenders who are assigned to the CORCAN employment program. Experience working on residential and / or commercial and / or industrial construction projects or other industry experience, such as assembly and / or installation of products determined to be relevant to the work to be performed in the positions. Applied / assessed at a later date ABILITIES :

Possession of a construction or manufacturing related building skill trades Certification of Qualifications recognized by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities (or equivalent Provincial governing body) valid in the designated Province of work.
Experience in supervision and providing direction to staff.
Experience in a correctional setting working with offenders.
Experience in reading / interpreting blueprints, drawings, and construction specifications.
Experience in residential construction including at least three of the following framing, window, and door installation; flooring materials installation; roofing materials installation; drywall systems and installation; concrete foundation and formwork.
Experience in manufacturing wood and / or metal products.
