Job summary

WSP Canada in Langley, BC is seeking an Early Career Building Sciences Consultant to help deliver safer, more sustainable, and resilient buildings across the Lower Mainland. You'll gain hands-on experience in building assessments, envelope reviews, and capital planning, blending office collaboration with on-site fieldwork.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Building Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Eligibility for EGBC registration (EIT or Professional Engineer).
  • Co-op, internship, academic, or professional experience in building science, consulting engineering, construction, or building assessments.
  • Foundational understanding of building assemblies, construction practices, envelope systems, and performance principles.
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills; ability to communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Support building investigations and reports under experienced guidance.
  • Participate in envelope reviews, condition assessments, restoration projects, and on-site evaluations.
  • Assist field investigations: collecting measurements, documenting observations, and assessing building performance.
  • Visit active construction/restoration sites to verify work and gather data.
  • Contribute to projects across residential, commercial, institutional, and educational facilities.
  • Develop expertise in specifications, contract administration, and project coordination.
  • Support preparation of property condition assessments and capital plans for informed asset management.
  • Share ideas and technical insights to support team improvement.

The Opportunity

As an Early Career Building Sciences Consultant, you'll help create safer, more sustainable, and resilient buildings across British Columbia's Lower Mainland. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll gain hands‑on experience in building assessments, restoration, building envelope consulting, capital planning, and property condition evaluations. This role offers a unique blend of office collaboration and fieldwork, providing exposure to a diverse range of projects and building types while supporting your professional development and career growth.

Your Impact
  • Support building investigations, technical assessments, and report preparation under the guidance of experienced building science professionals.
  • Participate in building envelope reviews, condition assessments, restoration projects, and on‑site evaluations.
  • Assist with field investigations, collecting measurements, documenting observations, and assessing building performance.
  • Visit active construction and restoration sites to verify work, monitor project progress, and gather technical data.
  • Contribute to projects involving residential, commercial, institutional, and educational facilities throughout the region.
  • Develop your technical expertise in areas such as specifications, contract administration, project coordination, and building rehabilitation.
  • Support the preparation of property condition assessments, depreciation reports, and capital plans that help clients make informed long‑term asset management decisions.
  • Share ideas, lessons learned, and technical insights to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.

  • A degree or diploma in Building Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Eligibility for registration or current registration with EGBC as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer.
  • Previous co‑op, internship, academic, or professional experience related to building science, consulting engineering, construction, or building assessments.
  • Foundational understanding of building assemblies, construction practices, building envelope systems, and building performance principles.
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills, with the ability to communicate findings clearly and effectively.
  • Enthusiasm for hands‑on fieldwork and working in a variety of environments, including construction sites and building investigations.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $57,500 to 76,200 MB & ON: $52,500 to 72,300 NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $52,000 to 69,000
