Job Summary

The Building Maintenance Technician conducts extensive monitoring and routine assessments of building systems to ensure optimal operation and performance. Performs tests, rounds, and data analysis to maintain departmental equipment functionality.

Responsibilities:
  1. Operate and maintain non-critical equipment such as refrigeration, heat exchangers, HVAC, electrical systems, and hot water systems.
  2. Monitor, adjust, and maintain systems including refrigeration, chilled water, air conditioning, boilers, ventilating and hot water heaters, pumps, valves, piping, filters, and other mechanical and electrical equipment; record readings and make necessary adjustments.
  3. Operate and monitor critical and non-critical system components; process work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance, and complete documentation in the computerized maintenance management system.
  4. Respond promptly to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure) and customer concerns.
  5. Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  6. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  7. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of building systems such as HVAC, emergency power, uninterruptible power supplies, and related infrastructure.
  • Power or Stationary Operating Engineer Class 4 (preferred).
  • Refrigeration Operator Class B (preferred).
  • Building Environmental Systems 1 or 2 (preferred).
  • Facility Operations Certificate (preferred).
