A construction firm in Nova Scotia is seeking a Retired Building Envelope Supervisor or Inspector/PM for part-time work focusing on residential multi-unit projects. Key responsibilities include reviewing wall assemblies, conducting crew briefings, and certifying work standards. Compensation is $100/hour with flexible scheduling and a $150 bonus for first-time successful passes after crew briefings. Ideal candidates have deep knowledge of building envelopes and strong communication skills.
LOOKING FOR: Retired Building Envelope Super or Inspector/PM | Part-time | $100/hr
You understand how building envelopes actually perform — not just installation steps, but why assemblies fail. You've built high-performance, diagnosed failures, or consulted on envelope details for years.
You can explain to an installer why the flashing sequence matters. Not “because code says so” — because you can describe where the water goes when they get it wrong.
We build 3-4 story wood-frame multi-unit residential in Nova Scotia (generally 90 mins within HRM). Cold, wet climate. Envelope is where buildings fail here.
Spec translation: Review wall assemblies and details. Define exactly how WRB, air barrier, windows, and penetrations should be executed. Visual, demonstrable, plain language.
Crew briefing: Meet with the actual installers before they start. Walk through the details. Show them what you expect. Answer questions. No excuses later.
Certification: Verify work meets the standard you set. Your sign-off unlocks payment. If it's wrong, you say what's wrong and how to fix it.
2-5 visits/month during envelope phases. Flexible scheduling.
$100/hour on site — 1.5 hour minimum $150 bonus when work passes first time after your crew briefing
