The City is seeking an engaged and forward-thinking Building & By-Law Services Supervisor to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Building and Planning (Chief Building Official), the Building and Bylaw Services Supervisor is responsible for carrying out assigned building inspection functions relating primarily to small-scale residential construction and renovations, ensuring compliance with the Ontario Building Code, Building Code Act, applicable legislation, regulations, and municipal policies and procedures. The position is also responsible for the supervision and day-to-day coordination of By-law Services staff, ensuring the effective administration and enforcement of applicable municipal by-laws. This includes overseeing inspections and investigations, responding to complaints and inquiries, identifying and documenting by-law contraventions, following appropriate enforcement procedures, and supporting voluntary compliance where possible.
The Building and Bylaw Services Supervisor provides guidance and direction to staff, assigns and prioritises work, reviews inspection and investigation activities, and assists with addressing complex or escalated matters. The position works closely with property owners, residents, contractors, businesses, developers, and other stakeholders to explain regulatory requirements, promote compliance, and provide professional and responsive customer service. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate inspection, investigation, and enforcement records and may be required to prepare reports, correspondence, notices, and other documentation relating to building and by-law matters. The Supervisor also assists with public education and outreach initiatives and provides information to the public regarding building requirements, municipal by-laws, compliance expectations, and applicable processes.

This position is a non-union position, forty (40) hours per week with an annual salary range of $95,680.00 - $107,473.60 based on qualifications, education and experience. The City of Dryden offers a comprehensive benefit package (OMERS Pension | 100% Employer-Paid Benefits).
