Position Summary:
The Estimator will play a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious client acquisition and revenue growth objectives. You will assist the Sales Manager with estimating support, client presentations, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret project documentation and develop Building Automation/Building Control design basis and cost estimates.
- Work with the account manager to provide written responses to “Request for Proposals” (RFP), quotes, and/or specification clarifications.
- Occasionally meet with consultants and owner groups to understand project scope, provide budgets, and/or develop project specifications.
- Understand project delivery and provide solutions both within controls scope and other areas outside of our typical scope.
- Build customer confidence in the solutions that Ainsworth provides.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with contractors, vendors, and service team members.
- Read and understand mechanical drawings, blueprints, construction plans, and written specifications.
- Estimate labor and material costs for controls projects.
- Maintain exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
- Stay updated on new Delta and other controls products.
- Attend educational workshops, review professional publications, and participate in professional societies to maintain technical knowledge.
- Possess prior field and/or sales experience related to automation/controls, with a working knowledge of construction facets including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards customers and employees.
- Handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Travel to customer sites as needed.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have full-time access to a vehicle (vehicle allowance provided).
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the Building Automation System industry.
- Preferred: Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree.
- Consideration given to technical or associate degrees in related fields.
- Experience in HVAC or electrical contracting sales is welcome.
- Entry-level candidates considered on an individual basis.
- Proven sales experience with contractor and engineering relationships, and professional selling skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in scope development and specification writing.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Vista, Windows 7, Blue Beam software a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
