Position Summary:

The Estimator will play a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious client acquisition and revenue growth objectives. You will assist the Sales Manager with estimating support, client presentations, and reporting.

Responsibilities:
  1. Interpret project documentation and develop Building Automation/Building Control design basis and cost estimates.
  2. Work with the account manager to provide written responses to “Request for Proposals” (RFP), quotes, and/or specification clarifications.
  3. Occasionally meet with consultants and owner groups to understand project scope, provide budgets, and/or develop project specifications.
  4. Understand project delivery and provide solutions both within controls scope and other areas outside of our typical scope.
  5. Build customer confidence in the solutions that Ainsworth provides.
  6. Build and maintain good working relationships with contractors, vendors, and service team members.
  7. Read and understand mechanical drawings, blueprints, construction plans, and written specifications.
  8. Estimate labor and material costs for controls projects.
  9. Maintain exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  10. Stay updated on new Delta and other controls products.
  11. Attend educational workshops, review professional publications, and participate in professional societies to maintain technical knowledge.
  12. Possess prior field and/or sales experience related to automation/controls, with a working knowledge of construction facets including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems.
  13. Maintain a positive attitude towards customers and employees.
  14. Handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  15. Travel to customer sites as needed.
  16. Possess a valid driver’s license and have full-time access to a vehicle (vehicle allowance provided).
Qualifications:
  1. 3 to 5 years of experience in the Building Automation System industry.
  2. Preferred: Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree.
  3. Consideration given to technical or associate degrees in related fields.
  4. Experience in HVAC or electrical contracting sales is welcome.
  5. Entry-level candidates considered on an individual basis.
  6. Proven sales experience with contractor and engineering relationships, and professional selling skills.
  7. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  8. Experience in scope development and specification writing.
  9. Proficiency in MS Office, Vista, Windows 7, Blue Beam software a plus.
  10. Valid driver’s license.
