Career Opportunity and Primary Roles / Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced BSP Software Engineer to support the development of a next-generation embedded computing platform for an in-flight entertainment system.

In this role, you will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, from initial design and board bring-up through implementation, integration, testing, optimization, and release. Your work will involve developing and enhancing operating system and platform software, supporting the integration of hardware and software components, and ensuring that the underlying platform provides a stable and high-performing foundation for higher-level applications and services.

You will collaborate closely with hardware, platform, Android, system integration, validation, and DevOps teams to bring new platform capabilities to life on embedded hardware and troubleshoot challenging system-level issues. The position provides an opportunity to work hands-on with Linux, QNX, device drivers, board-level software, and virtualized environments, while contributing to robust software designed for demanding aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilites
  • Design, develop, integrate, debug, and maintain embedded Linux kernel, QNX, and device-driver software.

  • Perform board bring-up and support platform initialization from the bootloader through operating-system and driver layers.

  • Develop and test high-quality embedded software from functional and system specifications.

  • Integrate and validate platform software with hardware peripherals, operating-system services, virtualization components, and higher-level software.

  • Diagnose and resolve boot, driver, communication, memory, performance, stability, and system-integration issues.

  • Optimize system performance and memory utilization against defined technical KPIs.

  • Enhance existing software to improve efficiency, reliability, robustness, and maintainability.

  • Develop and execute unit, integration, functional, regression, performance, and system-level tests.

  • Create test automation and performance-benchmarking capabilities.

  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback.

  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, static analysis, code-quality gates, and release-readiness activities.

  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, estimation, risk management, defect triage, lab bring-up, demonstrations, and release support.

  • Work collaboratively within a cross-functional Agile scrum team.

  • Maintain traceability between requirements, design decisions, implementation, test evidence, defects, and performance results.

  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, including architecture updates, feature designs, architecture decision records, interface definitions, sequence diagrams, data-flow diagrams, test documentation, performance reports, release notes, and knowledge-transfer material.

Required Competencies
  • Professional experience developing, debugging, and testing Linux kernel and device-driver software.

  • Hands-on board bring-up experience.

  • Proficiency with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Ability to investigate complex hardware/software integration problems methodically.

  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with distributed, multidisciplinary engineering teams.
